Thank you so much Father, for clarifying this one. It’s true that the said post regarding the greeting is creating a huge amount of confusion and debates. And very honestly, I’ve been wishing people a “Happy Christmas” too… For the exact purpose that you mentioned here (no secular connotation). Though many ridicule me when I do say so, especially the more rigid seniors and some of the “Holier than thou” younger generation too. But now, this is a way more practical and sensible explanation I can use, if questioned. Thanks again and a very Happy Christmas to you, dear Fr Warner. God bless.
Once long back, a sermon given by a senior priest during the Christmas season, he said its nice to wish others Merry Christmas instead of compliments of the season. I felt it was true as the Lord was born and the following days to wish everyone Merry Christmas”. I still continue to do the same. Thanks for explaining it though. Merry Christmas to you Fr. Warner.
Dear Father Warner, Your explicit opinion and detailed explananatio is indeed greatly appreciated. I welcome this correction. So true, we need to keep up the Christmas spirit alive and cherish the birth of our Saviour, post Christmas days. Thank you for your valuable clarification, and I will now adhere to it, and, if an askance eye is turned towards me, I have an appropriate answer. Wishing you once again, dear Father -A VERY HAPPY CHRISTMAS. God bless you Father and thank you over and over again for your spiritual enlightenment.
Happy Christmas every day of the year
Yes Fr. Warner, it has been quite sometime now, that we wish family and friends Happy Christmas throughout the Christmas week, though the reply is Compliments of the Season.
Hopefully people will change over time
Have a Blessed Year ahead Gt. Warner.
