i went to boarding school in goa. it was a jesuit institution, so we learnt more about the catholic faith than most others.
i was shocked to hear that one of my fellow boarders and classmate (a bit immature, who attended daily mass). later was a musician, left the catholic faith and music profession to become pastor with the BELIEVERS. he now speaks against the catholic church.
i have many questions to ask him when we do meet one day: what did you learn in school /boarding about your religion/why did you attend daily masses (though it was not compulsory for the senior students)/ has religion told you that rock & roll is the devils music/how and where does you new beliefs differ from the old/ do you believe every word in the bible/who wrote the bible/ where does his monies from as a pastor??????
as i have said on numerous occasions, the old church went about baptising left, right and centre.. what counted was not faith but NUMBERS! now we have the numbers but their faith is according to what the church says, celebrate feasts and recite repetitive prayers or recite prayers they dont fully understand. they do not know how to have a personal connection with their god/jesus as their creator and saviour. they are SEARCHING FOR A CONNECTION and that is the reason many change their church/religion and some dont even go to church.
the old churches
MUST clear out the clutter/ dead wood/ leaders who are of disrepute.
RE-EXAMINE their faith/service/purpose and
LIVE AS CHRIST WOULD HAVE EXPECTED of his followers.
